Thank you, for visiting our website. As of August 1, 2005 the studio and showroom of Wearkstatt are closed. After 14 years of offering memorable design and remarkable quality to American brides, co-owners Jonas and Ursula Hegewisch have decided, to pursue other opportunities. They are very excited about their plan to spend a year in Europe and starting a new venture upon their return to New York. "Wearkstatt", which is a play on the German word for "workshop" was founded by designers Ursula and Jonas Hegewisch in the early 1990’s to provide a new option to brides looking for elegant and glamorous yet timeless bridal fashion. From it’s origins in a small studio in New York’s Soho area the company has grown to it’s current status as one

of the most innovative and respected upscale bridal houses in the market, with retail representation all over the country. In Jonas’ and Ursula’s designs the highest level of patternmaking and the most beautiful fabrics are combined with gorgeous detailing and uncompromising production quality. They often imbue their dresses with an element of surprise, such as ingenious seaming or a subtle sex appeal that is flattering but never vulgar. Wearkstatt gowns have been featured in a number of motion pictures, on television, in many publications and one of their designs is in the collection of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
